Day ten has arrived!
Today, Denise said that boredom is a sign of unutilized potential. She suggested thinking of something I would be willing and want to devote a half hour or hour a day to – something just for me. She suggested ancestry.com, reading, a craft, tai chi, a blog, and so on. Luckily, I started this blog ten days ago and already like to read. I think my life is full enough as it is! I’m actually looking forward to finishing this blog and going back to my book, “The Abstinence Teacher.” I think I read it before, but I can’t remember where the story goes!
For breakfast, Denise said to have half a bagel with one tablespoon of low-fat cream cheese, and 1/2 cup berries. Done. For a snack, she said to have a piece of string cheese, plus 1/2 cup berries or other sliced fruit. Done. In the evening she said to do a crossword to stretch my brain; I will pull myself out of my book and do a crossword puzzle for fifteen minutes before going to sleep. I like the New York Times crossword puzzles, although even the Monday ones are not easy for me!
TODAY’S PERSONAL ENERGY REPORT
When you Wake Up: Morning Energy Questions
◊ What will I look forward to today? Reading my book when I get home from work.
◊ What pleasure will I add to my day? Walking after school. And reading.
◊ How will I connect to someone today? I will make an effort at lunch to be engaged in good conversation with my coworkers.
During the Day: Energy Checklist
◊ I got enough sleep last night. No – I couldn’t fall asleep. I think it was almost one, and then today I ate cookies in the morning partially because I was tired. I’m going to take a half dose of Advil PM tonight before I go to bed.
◊ I energized with my morning stretch (detailed in book). Done
◊ I ate breakfast. Done.
◊ I drank eight glasses of water. I think I had about six glasses today. I didn’t have my water with me at school and felt dehydrated this afternoon. I’ve been trying to catch up this evening.
◊ I got outside for some fresh air and sunshine. Yes, while I was walking around the running track.
◊ I did my afternoon Energy Shot stretch (detailed in book). Will do with the evening stretch.
◊ If I caught myself slouching or slumping, I corrected my posture. Remembered as I typed this.
◊ If I caught myself in a negative thought, I turned it positive. Yes for the most part.
◊ I connected with someone. Yes, lots of people at school. Today one coworker and I bonded over the fact that she is blind in one eye, and I am nearly blind in the other. (My other eye compensates so much that I am surprised by people coming up on my left sometimes, ha ha.)
◊ I did something fun or relaxing, just for me. I walked, I read, my husband and I watched some of Juno together.
◊ I worked out for thirty minutes or more. Yes, it was a full thirty minutes that I was outside walking. I should get back to some workout videos! I’ve walked four days in a row at least but I should get back to some strength training.
◊ I only went on the internet from six to eight PM: Not entirely, but better than some days!
◊ I did my bedtime stretch (detailed in book.) To be done this evening about ten p.m.
Before Bed: Evening Energy Questions
◊ Did I live the promises of my Morning Energy Questions? Yes
◊ What fired me up today, and why? School stuff felt good. Being helpful felt good.
◊ What tired me out today, and why? I’m not used to a full day of people yet!
