Day 9

Welcome to day nine! Today again was busy with the school year starting. I think it has been good to get back into the swing of things. Today Denise said to experience the power of wonder, and to remember what it was like to view the world through the eyes of a four-year-old. It’s true that after spending decades on earth, and giving a name to everything we see, we tend to lose our sense of wonder at things around us! Today when I went for a walk, I tried to notice things around me more. I noticed a kitten, maybe six months old, bouncing around, excited about everything. I noticed two little girls waving at me, they were practicing saying “hi” over and over. I noticed the green grass thanks to recent rain, and was thankful that it will still be light out after school for a few more months.

Today, Denise said to have oat meal with flax seed and blueberries for breakfast, which I did. She said to spend the morning looking at the world through a four-year-olds eyes… that was difficult because I was at school for a professional development day, but I tried to look through a four-year-olds eyes during my walk after school!

For the afternoon she said to have an egg on toast for a snack (I included this with my dinner), and she said that if I could, to spend my lunch hour in a library and to pick up a non-fiction book about something I would like to learn more about. Funny! I work in a school library. Tomorrow I will take home a book on evolution.

She says to go to be early tonight and get up early to watch the sun come up, to keep my sense of wonder going. Sorry, I am not doing this!! I do not like getting up before seven, and I will be grouchy all day if I get up early on the weekends. Maybe I could find somewhere to watch the sun set tomorrow? Might be some good views over the lake near by.

Reading more of my book, “The Abstinence Teacher.” So good!

Reading. And walking on the running track.

Connecting with people from work I haven’t seen in a long time.

During the Day: Energy Checklist
◊ I got enough sleep last night. Yes, although I dreamed I was dead! Like I was walking around but I was stiff and when I looked in the mirror I was white as a sheet and I was wondering how long I had before I started decomposing.
◊ I energized with my morning stretch (detailed in book). Done
◊ I ate breakfast. Done.
◊ I drank eight glasses of water. I did not do this, and I ate cookies at work, and I can feel it. I will get back on track tomorrow.
◊ I got outside for some fresh air and sunshine. Yes, while I was walking around the running track. Since I started this blog, this is the most that I have continuously gone walking on that track!
◊ I did my afternoon Energy Shot stretch (detailed in book). Will do with evening stretches!
◊ If I caught myself slouching or slumping, I corrected my posture. Remembered as I typed this.
◊ If I caught myself in a negative thought, I turned it positive. Yes for the most part. It’s been good being busier, actually.
◊ I connected with someone. Yes, lots of people at school. I will be more specific next week!
◊ I did something fun or relaxing, just for me. I walked, and I’m going to read later.
◊ I worked out for thirty minutes or more. Yes, it was a full thirty minutes that I was outside walking.
◊ I only went on the internet from six to eight PM: I slid back on this. It’s 9:00 PM now… need to finish and go read.
◊ I did my bedtime stretch (detailed in book.) To be done this evening about ten p.m.

 Just getting started with school felt good.

I’m not used to a full day of people yet!
